Quick start
Get from zero to a live /llms.txt in three steps.
Step 1 - Install the plugin
Search for Project LLMs.txt in WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New, then click Install Now and Activate.
After activation, a new LLMs.txt item appears in your WordPress admin sidebar.
Need more detail? See Installation → for manual zip upload, Pro setup, and server requirements.
Step 2 - Generate
- Click LLMs.txt in the sidebar to open the plugin.
- On the Generate tab, click the Generate button.
- The plugin scans your posts, pages, and any enabled content types, reads your published content (with a full-page scrape available as an option), converts each page to clean Markdown, and assembles the output files.
The progress bar fills as each item is processed. When it completes you’ll see a confirmation with the number of entries included.

Step 3 - Confirm it’s live
Visit https://yoursite.com/llms.txt in a browser. You should see a structured Markdown file that starts with your site name and tagline, followed by sections listing your pages and posts with brief descriptions.
That file is what AI assistants read when they want to understand your site. Once it’s there, you’re discoverable.
What’s in the file
A typical llms.txt looks like this:
# Your Site Name
> Your site tagline
Brief description of your site.
## Pages
- [About](https://yoursite.com/about): ...
- [Contact](https://yoursite.com/contact): ...
## Posts
- [Post Title](https://yoursite.com/blog/post-title): ...
The index links out to every included page. AI assistants follow those links to read the full content of individual pages.

Everything above also works from WP-CLI - useful for automation, CI pipelines, and bulk operations:
